Follow the rhythm of the Great Wildebeest Migration on a 7-day Tanzania safari designed around seasonal
wildlife movements.
The most important thing about a genuine migration safari is flexibility. The wildebeest do not follow a fixed calendar, and their location changes according to rainfall, grazing conditions and other natural factors.
For this reason, Tarantula Adventure Safaris will plan the route around the expected location of the herds during your travel dates, rather than promising a particular sighting.
You may encounter huge wildebeest and zebra herds, predators following the migration and, during the appropriate season and with luck, dramatic river-crossing activity.
River crossings and specific wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Itinerary
Day 1, Arusha → Tarangire
Travel from Arusha to Tarangire National Park.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive among elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and other wildlife.
Overnight: Sangaiwe Tented Lodge
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Day 2, Tarangire → Serengeti
After breakfast, begin the journey toward Serengeti.
The route passes through the spectacular landscapes of northern Tanzania before entering the Serengeti
ecosystem.
Overnight: Nyikani Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 3, Serengeti Migration Tracking
Spend the day exploring areas where the migration is expected to be concentrated.
Your guide will use current local conditions and wildlife observations to determine the best areas to explore.

Day 4, Serengeti Migration Tracking
Continue following the herds.
The day may focus on grazing herds, predator activity, photography and the wider Serengeti ecosystem.

Day 5, Serengeti Migration Tracking
A further full day dedicated to wildlife viewing.
Depending on the season, the safari may focus on the southern Serengeti/Ndutu area, Central Serengeti
or northern Serengeti.

Day 6, Serengeti → Ngorongoro Area
Enjoy a final morning game drive before travelling toward the Ngorongoro area.

Day 7, Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha
Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive.
After exploring the crater, continue to Arusha.

Why we don’t guarantee one Serengeti camp
A migration safari should follow the animals—not force the animals to follow the itinerary.
Your Serengeti accommodation should therefore be selected according to the season and expected location of the migration. This provides a more genuine migration experience than permanently
assigning the same Central Serengeti camp throughout the year.
